Daviess County went head-to-head against Owensboro Catholic in a district matchup that saw the Panthers come out with a win. Trinity won their first match of the season in double overtime on the road against Portland Christian.
DCHS 61, OCHS 46
Daviess County are 2-0 in the district after taking down Owensboro Catholic 61-46. The game started out pretty evenly as DC held a narrow 14-12 lead. They extended their lead to 33-24 by halftime. They held onto this lead for the second half to win comfortably 61-46.
Leading the scoring for the Panthers was Jonathan Moss with 20. Gage Phelps followed behind with 15 points. Luke Beickman led the Aces with 15 points. Ronald Smith followed behind with 11 points.
THS 79, Portland Christian 76
Trinity battled it out with Portland Christian to win 79-76 in double overtime. Trinity had an early lead at 16-14 at the end of the first quarter. Portland took the lead in the second quarter at 28-27. The teams were evenly matched up until the end of regulation at 64-64. The deadlock couldn’t be broken at the end of overtime at 73-73. The Raiders outscored Portland 6-3 in double overtime to go home with the win.
Hayden Aull put up an impressive 26 points to help fight off Portland. J.P. Payne followed behind with 17 points, and Connor Hatfield had 14 points as well.
