Hannah Marie Flaugher Johnson, 88, of Owensboro, passed away on November 23, 2023. She was born on August 1, 1935, in Owensboro to the late Marvin and Evelyn Flaugher. Marie retired from Our Lady of Mercy Hospital where she was a nurse for many years. She was a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Marie enjoyed reading, gardening, riding her bike, and golfing. She also enjoyed watching UK basketball. Marie was the first to offer her help to anyone. She always welcomed everyone with open arms and to know her was to love her.
Along with her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Leon Johnson, and her sister, Freda Downing Mitchell.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Dave) Matthews of Rockport, Indiana, Gayla (Dennis) Whitehouse, and Lee Johnson; grandchildren, Amy Hardesty, Aaron Hardesty, Kathleen Murphy, Jonathan Whitehouse, Daniel Whitehouse, Emily Schwartz, Matthew Johnson, and Cheyenne Johnson; step-grandchildren, Christopher Matthews, Brice Matthews, and Leah Matthews; and several great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with prayers being said at 6:00 p.m., on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and again on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
