Rose Edna Trivett 88, of Glenville, Kentucky peacefully passed away Friday, November 17, 2023 at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun. Her life was a testament to unwavering love, boundless sacrifices for her family, and devout devotion to God, leaving a permanent mark on all fortunate enough to have known her.
Rose Edna Turbyfill was born August 3, 1935 in Cranberry, North Carolina to the late Arnie Elgin and Zona Hartley Turbyfill. On June 17, 1954, she married the love of her life, Walter Raymond Trivett. They moved to Cedar Lake, Indiana, where they raised their children. In 1978, Walter, Rose, and their growing family moved to Owensboro, where they owned and operated Windy Hollow Campground. Rose was a familiar sight at the bait shop and the entrance to the swim lake, offering smiles and warm welcomes to all who visited. Sunday mornings in the summer were especially memorable for the family as Rose always picked up breakfast from Windy Hollow Restaurant. After the family’s transition from Windy Hollow in 1999, Rose settled into her well-deserved retirement, focusing on her family with the same unyielding devotion.
Rose had a giving heart, and she always showed her love by cooking for others. Nothing made her happier than having a house full of family and friends, family card games were one of her favorite pastimes. She and Walter also enjoyed traveling, especially to see their family in North Carolina, and they visited every state but Alaska. She was an active member of Calhoun Christian Church and could be found there every Sunday until her health deteriorated. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Walter R. Trivett and by her brother, Junior Turbyfill.
Rose is survived by her children, Phil Trivett (Deana) of Owensboro, Richard Trivett (Jayne) of Franklin, Indiana, and Donna Greenwell (John) of Calhoun; five grandchildren, Heather Kessinger, Brad Trivett, Sherry Boesch (Michael), Brian Trivett (Lindsey), and Robbie Trivett (Kelly); six great-grandchildren, Trinity Kessinger, Devyn Kessinger, Chase Colburn, Bexal Trivett, Ellery Trivett, and Daxton Trivett; a sister, Connie Ochiltree of Calhoun; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
