Owensboro youngster Jett Wilson will appear on ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos (AFV) this Sunday for a chance at $20,000. Wilson is in 2nd grade at Country Heights Elementary and is busting at the seams with excitement.

It will be the 5th episode of the show’s 34th season and will air at 6 p.m. on Channel 25 (WEHT), Hulu, and ABC.com.

“I’m very excited and happy,” Jett said. “I’m not embarrassed yet – I just don’t know how much people will laugh at it.”

Jett’s mother Angela captured the funny moment when he attempted a new basketball move in the driveway. Recognizing its comedic value, she immediately submitted it to AFV.

“We submitted the video in May and didn’t hear anything,” Angela said. “Within 2 weeks, they contacted us to complete the paperwork and informed us that we had moved to the next round.”

By the end of the month, AFV informed the Wilsons that they had advanced to final consideration for the show. On Halloween, ABC contacted the family to let them know they would be featured on the show.

Angela said it was definitely funny, especially since Jett didn’t get hurt, but that’s all she could reveal prior to the show. Jett has been telling his family, friends, teammates, teachers, and principals since he heard the news.

When asked what he would do with the $20,000 if he won, Jett asked, “Is that enough money to go to a baseball game?”

Once his parents said he could do more than that, he set his sights on attending the Super Bowl.

Jett also enjoys playing baseball, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with his friends. He said seeing others laugh makes him happy, even at his own expense.
