Judy Brawner 81, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Judith Ann Yonts was born April 6, 1942 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Arvin and Ethel Rock Yonts, was married to Michael L. Brawner until his death on October 19, 1985 and was later married to Norman S. Smith until his death on September 26, 2020. Judy lived a life full of joy, laughter, and love.
Judy’s career was as impressive as her personal life. She was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church and served as the McLean County Jailer before retiring as the director of McLean County Senior Services. Her professional dedication and commitment to her community were admired by all who knew her.
However, Judy’s zest for life extended beyond her professional accomplishments. She was always the life of the party, lighting up every room she entered with her infectious laughter and radiant smile. Judy had a passion for singing and dancing, and her joy was contagious. Her friends looked forward to her visits, cherishing the laughter and warmth she brought into their lives.
Above all, Judy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was not just a grandmother but also a confidante, mentor, and friend. Her family will cherish the memories of holidays, birthdays, and ordinary days made extraordinary by Judy’s love and laughter.
Judy is survived by her two sons, Mike Brawner (June) of Calhoun and Darron Brawner (Jana) of Poplar Grove; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myrna Southard (Joe) of McHenry.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday November 6, 2023 at Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. There will be no public visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Judy’s family.
