Catherine Louise Payne Johnson, 92, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away on October 24, 2023. She was born January 25, 1931, in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late William Jess Payne and Mary Lettie Millay Payne. Louise was a stay-at-home mother who loved taking care of her family. She was of the catholic faith and was a faithful member of St. Stephen Cathedral and the Blessed Sacrament.
Louise enjoyed her spare time playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed listening to music, camping, and taking trips with her children. She had a special place in her heart for cooking, especially making her fried apple pies and flap jacks that she enjoyed so much with her children.
Along with her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband John Russell Johnson; her special companion, Joe Hodskins; 6 sisters; and 1 brother.
She is survived by her children, Michael Ray (Susan) Johnson, George William (Cindy) Johnson, Susan Victoria (Roy) Mutter, Jeffrey Joseph (Bob) Johnson; Randall Clarence (Sherri) Johnson; Dennis Wayne (Cheri) Johnson, and Patrick Alan Johnson; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Shelby Jean Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial to follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory.
