James “Jim” Rea Jr., 68, of Owensboro passed away October 22, 2023, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born October 1, 1955, to the late James Felton Sr. and Willie Virginia Rea. Jim was a member of Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church. As a veteran, he served in both the U.S. Air Force and Army Reserves, being deployed in both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. Jim was also a member of the Masons. He was an avid hunter, a good listener, and a wonderful father. Jim loved his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he was like a father to, and never missed a game.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brothers, Delbert Dockery, and Ralph Dockery.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 44 years, Cyndi Rea; daughters, Amber Millay (Shawn) and Autumn Williams (Porky); sister, Jan Reed; grandchildren, Khalif, Justice, Khylin, and Jordan; mother-in-law, Juanita Dragoo (Lawrence); sister-in-law, Charlotte Goodman (Jim); brother-in-law, Ray Dragoo (Cindy); special nephews, Brandon Rudd and Nick Raley; his dog, Asia; and several other nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Jim will be 2 PM Thursday, October 26, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 PM until 8 PM, and Thursday 12 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
