William “Earl” Davis, 89, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born June 2, 1934 at Redhill in Daviess County to the late James Clarence Davis and Mary Ellen Drace Davis. Earl retired after 41 plus years from Whirlpool Corporation and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany. He became a Christian in 1970 at Pleasant Union General Baptist Church in Deer Lick, Kentucky in Logan County and became a member of First General Baptist Church of Owensboro in 1985. Earl was a member for many years with the Brotherhood Master Workmen Society. He volunteered on church mission trips to Jamaica and Honduras and also in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Willodean Vincent Davis; sister, Rosie Lee Allen of Owensboro; and a brother, James “Jim” R. Davis of Reed.
Left to remember him is his wife of 32 years, Lois J. Davis; and a sister, Virgie May Grant of Owensboro; sister-in-law, Agnes Powers; brother-in-law, Don Powers of Thurston; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
