“Bob the Builder, can we fix it?”
“Bob the Builder, yes, we can!”
Parents of little girls toting American Girl dolls and painting toe nails are scratching their heads in puzzlement! Who is Bob the Builder? Parents of little boys carrying pocket knives and shooting BB guns, however, are in the know. When my son was four years old, he snuck out of his room during naptime donning his Bob the Builder Halloween costume, crept into the garage, snagged a hammer from the toolbox, demolished a wooden picnic table in the backyard, and reused the scraps to hammer back together a masterpiece of his own design! (I napped right through it. #momoftheyear) Some people would just rather be holding a saw!
Carpentry is such a valuable skill! If you are one who is gifted in the area of carpentry and would like to serve others, let me introduce you to the neatest organization: SAWs! It’s an organization like none other!
Those with physical disabilities encounter obstacles that the rest of us can’t imagine. We take everyday luxuries, like running to the mailbox or hopping in the car, for granted. The cost that accompanies doctors, medicines, wheelchairs can be as debilitating as the ailment! SAWs strives to use its talent to ease the burden of these families by building wheelchair ramps on homes for those who simply can’t afford them! Sometimes, a morning in the sunshine can bring great joy to the soul; sometimes, easier access to a vehicle lightens a heavy load; sometimes, an hour away from the house soothes anxiety and lightens the heart. SAWs gives that gift to those in wheelchairs! The organization serves the entire state of Indiana and is willing to grow with your help!
