Ava Christine McGehee 98, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Wellington Parc of Owensboro. Ava Christine Lindsey was born September 4, 1925 in Rumsey, Kentucky to the late James Dillon and Pearl Harmon Lindsey and was married to Charles Thomas McGehee December 6, 1944. Their loving bond served as a testament to their unwavering commitment and love for each other.

Ava was a homemaker, dedicating her time and energy to creating a warm and inviting home for her family. She was a member and former president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserves Association, where she served with distinction and grace.

A member of the Calhoun Baptist Church, Ava’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found solace and strength in her spiritual journey, and her faith was a beacon that guided her through life’s challenges and triumphs.

Ava had a green thumb and loved caring for and growing her flowers, which brought her immense joy and satisfaction. Her garden was a testament to her patience, dedication, and love for nature. She also enjoyed reading, a hobby that kept her mind sharp and her imagination vibrant.

Ava Christine McGehee’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her siblings, her steadfast faith, and her commitment to her community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness, her wisdom, and her love. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and faith, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Ava was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Charles T. McGehee, who died December 27, 2012; by her brothers, Dennis Lindsey and Bennett Lindsey; and by her sisters, Nova Welborn and Emogene Austin, with whom she maintained a close relationship throughout her life.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Carol Dick of Murray; two grandchildren, Scott Hagerman (Jenny) and Shannon Wells (Kevin) both of Owensboro; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary Hagerman, Krystin Wells, and Morgan Wells.

Private family graveside services will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County with the Rev. Franklin Skaggs officiating. There will be no public visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the services for Mrs. McGehee’s family.
