Brandon Algood 45, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky. Brandon Dwaine Algood, a beloved husband, father, son, grandson, and brother was born on May 11, 1978, in Owensboro, Kentucky to Moye Dane and Laura Denise Gossett Algood and was married to Melissa February 25, 2012. Brandon lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound dedication to his family and community.

In 1996, Brandon graduated from McLean County High School, where he was an active member of the baseball team. His love for sports, especially baseball, was a defining aspect of his life. His enduring passion for the game was a testament to his team spirit and camaraderie, values that he carried into every aspect of his life.

After high school, Brandon was employed at Castlen Steel in Owensboro, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he brought a level of professionalism and commitment to his role that was admired by his colleagues.

Brandon had a deep affinity for the outdoors. He cherished the time spent caring for his yard, a hobby that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace in its tranquility. Fishing was another of Brandon’s favorite pastimes, particularly when he could share these moments with his son, Snyder. Their fishing trips were not just about catching fish, but about bonding, sharing stories, and creating memories that will now be cherished more than ever.

As a lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Brandon’s love for sports was more than just a hobby—it was a passion. He would often be found cheering on his favorite teams, his enthusiasm and spirit infectious to all around him. However, his love for sports did not stop there. Brandon was a lover of all sports, often spending his free time watching games, discussing plays, and sharing his knowledge with friends and family.

Brandon’s life was a testament to his enduring love for his family, his unwavering work ethic, and his passion for sports. He was a beacon of positivity, always ready with a word of encouragement or a helping hand. Those who knew him were touched by his kindness, his infectious laughter, and his enduring optimism.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Melissa Algood; a son, Snyder Algood; a daughter, Jayci Algood; two step sons, Trenton Ruby and Jalen Crawford; his parents, Moye Dane and Denise Algood of Beech Grove; his grandmother, Beverly Gossett of Owensboro; a sister, Amanda Greenwell (Jason) of Sebree; two nephews, Braxton Greenwell and Ty Greenwell; and a niece, Abigail Greenwell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Jim Midkiff officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Brandon’s family from 10:30 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.
