James Eric May passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023. He was 52. Jamie was born in Bethesda Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida on January 21, 1971 to Jacqueline Rodgers McCracken May and James Eric May, Sr. James attended school in Jefferson County, Kentucky and Palm Beach County, Florida. He was a resident of Wendell Foster for 14 years and was much loved by staff and fellow residents. Jamie enjoyed all types of music, but especially rock and roll. He enjoyed drag car races, monster truck rallies, watching large construction projects, and like most men, controlling the TV remote. He was adept at “spiriting away” the phone, radio, or keys of a distracted staff member and then watching with interest while they searched for it.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include three sisters, Cara Swanner and her husband, Joe Mayer of Louisville, Sheryl Thomas of Pensacola, Florida, and LaDonna “Mij” May of Bethel, North Carolina; and his Wendell Foster family.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in Wendell Foster’s Young Building. Jamie will be buried beside his mother in Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana at noon EST, Monday, October 9, 2023. James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
