Hubert C. “Hubie” Howard, Jr., 78, of Lewisport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 while at the Heartford House. He was born in Livermore, KY on December 24, 1944 to the late Hubert and Ernestine Wright Howard. Hubert lived in Mclean County through his teenage years where he ran his parent’s grocery stores and graduated from McLean County High School. He later in life continued his education at Kentucky Wesleyan where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree.
Hubert worked as a DOT and then worked at Commonwealth Aluminum for 30 years from which he retired. He enjoyed building furniture and working with his hands. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ernestine; siblings, Jeannie Vincent and Keith Howard; grandson Dominique Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Janice Coultas Howard; children, Jerrilyn Smith, Rhonda Johnson, Tiffany (Jessie) Riley and Randy (Kathy) Barnett; grandchildren, Desiree` Johnson, Savannah Taylor, Zane Barnett, Autumn Himes, Haven Riley, Aaron Smith, Breze Riley, Karmin Riley and Skye Riley; 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel with burial following in Henderson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 am until service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
