This is a paid release.

Beth Partain opened Flourish Counseling in 2020 with a goal of building community relationships and encouraging providers to make referrals to specialized counseling services for mamas that might be struggling with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs). Covid certainly made that process difficult for a while, but provider relations with local OB/GYNs and pregnancy-related providers continue to flourish and Beth has proudly served many women throughout Kentucky through in-person and telehealth services.

Beth received her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) in 2021 and became the first mental health provider in Owensboro, and the Western KY area, to have the certification. PMH-C requires extensive training through Postpartum Support International, multiple years of experience in working with families, a final certification exam, and continuing education. Beth is passionate about advocating for maternal mental health, helping mamas to find their way in motherhood, encouraging the mother-baby bond, and bonding of families after the birth of a new baby.

Most recently, to advocate for maternal mental healthcare, Flourish Counseling is sponsoring and hosting the first Climb Out of the Darkness event in Owensboro, Kentucky. Climb Out of the Darkness is a program of Postpartum Support International, and is the world’s largest event raising funds and awareness for the mental health of new families. The Climb brings our community together to shine a light on a darkness we often don’t speak about. Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders are the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth. Postpartum Support International (PSI) provides direct peer support to families, trains professionals, and provides a bridge to connect them. The event will take place on Sunday, October 1st at 11:00am at the OHS Shelter at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro. There will be educational materials, fun activities for the whole family, and then a symbolic “climb” as a small walk around the park. Flourish Counseling would love to see you to help spread awareness for maternal mental health, reduce the stigma around mamas that experience PMADs, and show up as support for the families in our community.
