After a successful year in 2023, the American Cornhole Organization (ACO) World Championships are returning to Owensboro in 2024.

The tournament will occur at the Owensboro Convention Center from July 19 to 28, 2024. These dates are longer than the 2023 Worlds, allowing visitors and locals to enjoy more events.

“To be able to unveil the return to Owensboro for back-to-back World Championships was a huge moment for the ACO, our players, family, and friends,” said president & founder of ACO Cornhole Frank Geers. “There is no better partner or setting on our calendar as every time we return, we find that the city, which we affectionately refer to as ‘ThrOwensboro’ has added more to the list of reasons we love to play here.”

Geers said that returning to Owensboro was a no-brainer for the new year.

With over 700 athletes coming in from across the nation, president of Visit Owensboro Mark Calitri said the year brought $1.2 million in economic impact to Owensboro and Daviess County.

Because of this, Judge-Executive Charlie Castlen and Mayor Tom Watson look forward to the extended contest and the benefits it will bring.

“Daviess County has been a hidden gem for many years,” Castlen said. “I look forward to welcoming Mr. Frank Geers back to our county for the ACO World Championships in 2024 after the success of the 2023 Worlds. This will draw more people here to experience what Daviess County offers.”
