Martin Custom Building Inc., of Owensboro, has been chosen as the general contractor for the residence hall addition on St. Ann Street. The residence hall is the third construction project in the “Campaign for Brescia University: Gateway to Our Second Century,” and carries a total cost estimated to $2 million.

The new 2-story residence hall will feature an open-concept great room area featuring a full kitchen, large island and seating areas on each floor. The bedrooms will be two-bed spaces joined by jack-and-jill baths.

The highlight of the design is the large covered front porch and 2nd floor balcony.

The hall will house 38 students.

This dorm will be reserved for upperclassmen and is a direct result of the enrollment growth the University has experienced.

Construction will take place simultaneously with the construction of the C.E. Field Center for Professional Studies, a $9 million project, which is scheduled to open early 2020.

Both buildings are part of Brescia University’s Master Plan and are intended maintain a student-centered environment that offers a high-quality, transformational education experience and remain competitive in an ever-changing higher education landscape.

Gaddis Excavation, Circle C Contracting, and Acme Plumbing, all of Owensboro, have nearly completed preliminary work at the site prior to the start of construction. Framing is expected to begin by the end of January.

Construction will be complete by July 2019.
