Owensboro Times is bringing back the voting competition to determine the community’s favorite local restaurant. The 2023 Eat Down the Street contest, presented by First United Bank and Trust Company, kicks off Monday. Here’s everything you need to know about the competition.
ABOUT
Eat Down the Street is a voting contest to determine Owensboro-Daviess County’s favorite local restaurants, based solely on the votes cast in our poll. Comments on Facebook will not count as votes. Restaurants will be divided into five categories as outlined below.
VOTING
One category will be voted upon each week starting August 28. Voting will open weekly at 12 a.m. on Monday and close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, with category winners being announced each Friday.
The winners from each category will advance to the championship week of voting, which will span four days from October 2-5. The winner will be announced in a Facebook Live video on October 6.
ELIGIBILITY
Restaurants must be active in Owensboro-Daviess County and locally owned, and must currently have a brick-and-mortar location. Franchises will not be included. A franchise is considered a business with locations outside of Owensboro, excluding businesses that are both headquartered in and operate in Owensboro. Bars (meaning venues whose main focus is not serving food) and food trucks will not be included.
