Chick-Fil-A employee Adam English has been named the inaugural recipient of the Mag Award, presented by Visit Owensboro, for his dedication to guests and customer service.
The award was created to continue the legacy of the late City Commissioner and long-time CVB board member Larry Maglinger, and it is designed to honor residents who are ambassadors of local tourism efforts while demonstrating outstanding customer and guest service.
“This nominee has faced real-life challenges and obstacles to overcome, but yet he still shows up every day with a smile on his face, ready to serve his guests. The nominee does, in fact, go above and beyond every day and has a genuine heart for the Owensboro community,” Visit Owensboro President/CEO Mark Calitri read of English’s nomination.
Chick-fil-A Owner/Operator Mark Whiteman described English as an exemplary employee who is committed to the second-mile service that the company asks of its employees, adding that English always serves with a smile.
Whiteman said English works to learn each customer by name and tries to establish a genuine connection with them. Whiteman said one time a family came in while English was not working, and a child asked for him by name. When the child learned he was not working, he said through disappointment, “Adam is my friend.”
“I take time to make an individual approach to each person to make sure they feel love and happiness. To see a smile on your face, it’s one way to change the world,” English said.
English said the inspiration to spread this service to each customer comes from his heart through the Lord.
“It means the world to me to have the passion to put back into the community,” English said. “The community deserves to be loved equally and for everyone to have the same understanding as I do and have the wisdom to love each other.”
