The Parade of Homes has been a staple in the Owensboro community for several decades.
“The parade is a social event – a great place to run into old friends,” said HBAO Executive Director Richard Stallings. “It’s a place to shop for ideas on improving your home or maybe to consider a new neighborhood.”
Some of the homes being showcased are available for purchase.
“Research after research has indicated that the American dream is home ownership – it’s the number one way to build generational wealth,” said HBAO Executive Director Richard Stallings. “For the average person and most people, the majority of your financial wealth begins at adulthood when you buy your first home.”
Stallings said home ownership and renovating and increasing a home’s value is how Americans have built their family’s wealth for generations.
“Home ownership is very unique to our society and country,” he said. “There have been several national studies providing that people aspire to own homes because of the independence and wealth gain that comes from it. Hopefully, it will always be that way.”
