Firehouse Subs is growing its presence in Owensboro with a second location, this one just off KY 54 in a new strip center in front of Meijer. Construction on the building is expected to be completed in the first week of October.
John Iracane of 54 Property Management, which operates the strip center, confirmed on Tuesday that the restaurant was adding the location. Firehouse Subs will continue to operate their location at 5220 Frederica Street.
The restaurant offers hot specialty subs, salads, and more, with many menu items featuring names inspired by a firehouse such as Hook & Ladder, Engineer, and Firehouse Hero. The restaurant was founded in 1994 by former firefighter brothers Chris and Robin Sorensen, and it now has more than 1,210 restaurants nationwide and abroad.
Firehouse Subs will be located in the leftmost space of the three-unit building, which is located on Heartland Crossing next to the current center that includes Red Wing and Santa’s Toys.
Iracane said they are locking in the remaining two tenants, saying those companies could be announced soon.
