To help beat the summer heat, have some fun, and promote pet adoption all at once, Saving Paws Animal Rescue of Kentucky (SparKY) and local businesses are holding a free Ice Cream Paw-ty on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Ben Hawes Park.
Attendees and their pets are invited to socialize in the park. There will be an opportunity for a meet-and-play session with adoptable pets during the event.
SparKY volunteers and representatives for area businesses will be serving free ice cream for people and “pup cups” for the pets.
Area businesses that plan to be on site include Taxi Groomer, Radiant Skin by Michelle, Kentucky Canine Campus and Paws Town, Luv my Pups and Lindsey Ballard (loan officer for Liberty Mortgage).
Monetary, Purina dog-puppy/cat-kitten food and cat litter donations are welcome but not required at the event.
SparKy, a no-kill animal rescue, is located at 1004 East 18th Street. SparKy provides all rescues with the necessary vaccines and ensures that their maintenance and emergency medical needs are met. They also install microchips and ensure that all of them are spayed or neutered.
