Another juvenile has been arrested in relation to the June 21 homicide near Ben Hawes Park, this time a 17-year-old male, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. A 16-year-old male was charged with the murder of Gay Mee Paw, also 16, in this case last week.

DCSO announced Monday that the 17-year-old has been charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of a handgun by a minor, and unlawfully providing/permitting a minor to possess a handgun. Officials said last week that in addition to murder, the 16-year-old suspect was charged with tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a minor.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green. Because the suspects are juveniles, their identities cannot be released at this time according to state law.

Sheriff Brad Youngman said on June 21 that the shooting took place on Willet Road, and that the call came in to central dispatch at approximately 12:30 p.m. that day. Youngman said the female victim was located at the scene, and she was transported by AMR Ambulance in critical condition to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Youngman said shortly after arriving at the emergency room, Paw died from her injuries.

The 16-year-old was arrested the evening of the shooting. Following that suspect’s arrest, search warrants were obtained and executed by detectives. Evidence was recovered and is being processed by the Kentucky State Police Laboratory, according to DCSO.

On June 23, officials identified the female victim as Paw, of Owensboro. She attended Owensboro High School. An autopsy was performed by the Kentucky State Medical Examiner, who said the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the victim’s head, according to a previous release from DCSO.

Anyone that may have information regarding this investigation can contact DCSO at 270-685-8444 or make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 270-685-8484.
