Morley — a full-service firm offering architecture, engineering, and surveying — expanded into Owensboro last summer. Situated downtown at 105 West 2nd Street, the firm operates under one mission: helping its clients build a better world.

Morley began as an engineering and surveying company in Evansville in 1976. They added architecture services in 1983 and opened offices in Owensboro and Nashville in 2022. Whitesville native Cory Smith has been with the company for 6 years and is excited to spearhead the Owensboro location.

“I spent my first 5 years commuting from Whitesville to Evansville, and I noticed in driving through Owensboro on my way how much growth and development was happening locally,” Smith said. “Morley Corporate had noticed it as well. From there, it was a matter of finding the right time and personnel to launch in this market.”

In offering in-house architecture, engineering, and surveying services, Smith said Morley could blend services to save clients time and money. He added that their team is licensed to provide services in the Midwest, South, and East coast.

“We also opened an office in Nashville last summer, extending our reach even further with three offices,” he said. “We just noticed how much investment and development was happening locally, and we saw how our services could enhance that development.”

Morley’s mission of building a better world extends well beyond its traditional services. Smith said Morley is a firm enriched by tradition, expertise, and a sincere passion for community services and volunteerism.

“We have a reputation for quality work, attention to detail, and practical and economical solutions,” he said. “We’ve been eyeing Owensboro for a long time. We know Owensboro is community-oriented, and we are too. It’s a great culture fit.”

It’s tough to miss Morley’s sign when driving down 2nd Street. Smith said their location in the heart of downtown perfectly aligns with their mission. Through a contract with the City of Owensboro and planning and zoning, Morley is the downtown development design administrator.

“I think our location is the key to it all,” Smith said. “We were able to find a great spot here in the middle of downtown. When you talk about being impressed with the local development of Owensboro, it’s hard not to mention downtown. Not only are we part of the downtown business community, but we’re also using our skills to help coordinate downtown development in a larger way than just working on the specific projects.”

With nearly a half century of experience, Morley’s architecture, engineering, and surveying encompass several commercial and residential solutions. To learn more, visit morleycorp.com.

“I want to reiterate that this is not an outside company coming into Owensboro,” Smith said. “It’s a local person bringing a regional company here to help build a better Owensboro.”
