In celebration of the National Day of Prayer, an “Acoustic Worship Jam” is being held Thursday evening at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum. Randy Lanham is spearheading the free event, which he said is centered around coming together to sing and pray for the community and country.
The event begins at 7 p.m. at the outdoor stage of the Hall of Fame, which faces the Ohio River. Lanham said to grab a lawn chair and bring the family, adding there’s no telling when the event will end.
“We’re going to start at 7 and then I don’t know what time it’ll end. It’ll end whenever it ends. It might last for an hour, it might last four hours. We don’t really have a schedule,” Lanham said.
Lanham said that in true jam fashion, the event is loosely scheduled and allows singers and musicians to come and go, singing one or a handful of songs. He has invited several worship leaders throughout the community to perform however, but doesn’t know who all will attend.
“It’ll be kind of like a jam session where different singers get up and do a few songs and different musicians will get up and back them up. It’ll be pretty laid back and not really too structured,” Lanham said.
Lanham noted the event is not led by any particular denomination and is instead what he calls “a bunch of Christian friends getting together to worship.”
“We’re not there to talk about anything,” he said. “We’re there to worship and pray.”
