The Owensboro Area Crime Stoppers are pleased to announce another successful year. Crime Stoppers provides people with a safe, secure and anonymous way to report crimes or suspicious activity. If the tip they provide leads to an arrest, they are paid up to $1,000.00 depending on the nature of the crime, all while remaining anonymous.

The organization’s success rate continues to rise and all aspects of local, state and federal agencies have come to rely on their tip line.

Owensboro Area Crime Stoppers received 732 tips in 2018, for a 12% increase from 2017. The Crime Stoppers board approved over $6,000.00 in payouts this year, which is a 27% increase from 2017.

One particular tip received this year assisted the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office with a murder investigation and the arrest of that suspect.

The Owensboro Police Department also received a tip that assisted with the arrest of a suspect that committed two armed robberies. Overall, tips received assisted with arrests in 32 crimes (theft, burglary, etc.), 36 warrants served and 15 drug charges.

The Owensboro Area Crime Stoppers hope to continue this successful partnership with the community in 2019.
