
Mary Deanna Mattingly Mills, 68, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Daviess County on September 17, 1950 to the late Vincent Mattingly and Mary Millay Mattingly.
Deanna attended catholic schools and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from Western Kentucky University. Deanna later retired from the Owensboro Catholic Schools where she worked as a librarian for more than 20 years. She enjoyed collecting and reading old books, reading stories to the kids, decorating, flea markets, and spending time at the lake house.
Along with her parents, Deanna was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Sharp and her brother Gene Mattingly.
Deanna is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joseph H. Mills, and her children Jason (Kristi) Mills of Owensboro and Joel Mills of Philpot. She is also survived by her sisters: Janice (Marvin) Clark and Marty (Lynn) Gary, both of Owensboro; and her brothers: Mike (Sondra) Mattingly of Sacramento, California and Perry Mattingly of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Father Tom Buckman officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory.
