Impact100 Owensboro, an organization of women committed to improving the community by providing transformational grants to area nonprofits, is hoping to award three $100,000 grants this year. The organization, which has awarded over $3.8 million back into the Owensboro community since its inception in 2006, is currently in the midst of its 2023 membership drive.
Impact100 had a record-breaking membership of 288 members in 2022, awarding grants in the amount of $259,000.
“We would love nothing more than to award three $100,000 grants this year,” said Jodi Krahwinkel, Impact100 Owensboro President. “We invite every woman in the community to come make an impact with us and become a member. All are welcome.”
Krahwinkel said the Impact100 model is simple and effective: At least 100 women come together, with each woman donating either $1,000 or $500. A grant(s) of $100,000 is then donated to a local nonprofit, with 100% of each woman’s contribution going directly to the nonprofits.
Impact100 also offers a similar initiative for young women called Impact100 Next Generation. The program is designed to create a sense of community among young women through engagement with local nonprofits and to create a philanthropic spirit of giving back through time and money.
All young women who are currently in the 8th-12th grades are encouraged to join. Scholarships are available to young women that cannot donate $100 but would like to join the program.
“NextGen is a great way for our youth to learn more about the needs of our community and meet new people,” said Sarah Howard, Impact100 NextGen Chair. “These young women will see firsthand how their contribution can bring a project to life and make a substantial impact on their community.”
