A new scholarship will support students graduating from local high schools as they begin their college education at Owensboro Community and Technical College. The scholarship will be awarded to qualifying students enrolled in technical programs seeking an Associate in Applied Science credential.
Toyotetsu Mid-America has partnered with the OCTC Foundation to establish the TTMA Community Workforce Development Scholarship.
TTMA, located on Airpark Drive, is a longstanding car parts manufacturing company and Tier 1 supplier for Toyota.
“As a manufacturer in the Owensboro area, TTMA understands how crucial a skilled, technical workforce is to our area. We want to invest in individuals who are interested in pursuing education and careers in technical fields to enrich their lives and further develop our community,” TTMA officials said in a release.
TTMA’s support will provide four $1000 scholarships beginning in Fall 2023 and will be awarded to graduating high school seniors.
“TTMA’s support of student success is paramount to growing the workforce in our region. As a local employer, they are removing barriers for students seeking higher education and skills leading to a career in Daviess County and the region,” said Mike Rodgers, OCTC Foundation Executive Director and Chief Institutional Officer.
A check presentation took place earlier this month at TTMA.
