Apollo and Daviess County were able to put together comeback wins in their respective matchups on Tuesday, while Trinity (Whitesville) couldn’t stifle Travis Perry and the Cougars in a road loss.

Apollo vs Muhlenberg County

A strong start and finish to Tuesday’s contest led Apollo to victory, as they were able to close out the regular season with a 58-56 road win over Muhlenberg County.

Both teams came out of the gate looking to set the tone with their offense, but it was senior Zjhan Tutt’s 19 points in the first half that allowed the Eagles to take a 33-30 lead into halftime. Apollo struggled coming out of the locker room though, as they were limited to 10 points in the third while the Mustangs were clicking on all cylinders and took a 45-43 lead.

The Eagles weren’t done yet though, as sophomore Kobe Kelly (five), Tutt (four) and senior Donte Dixon (four) combined for 13 points while holding Muhlenberg County to 11 en route to the 58-56 comeback win.

Tutt led all scorers with a whopping 28 points in the win, while Dixon and Kelly both chipped in 10 points each. Apollo closes out the regular season 5-22 overall with the win, as they now have a week to prepare for their first round 9th District matchup against Owensboro Catholic at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Trinity (Whitesville) vs Lyon County

A monster fourth quarter from junior Travis Perry and Lyon County led them to victory on Tuesday, as they pulled away from the Raiders for a 75-55 win at home.

Trinity (Whitesville) found themselves right in this contest following the third quarter, as senior Nolan Mills (15), senior Landon Huff (12) and senior Nate Hernandez (11) combined for 39 points and had them down just 55-49 heading into the fourth. However, the Raiders were held to a pair of threes in the quarter, while Perry grabbed 18 of his game-leading 43 points to help secure a 75-55 win for the Lyons.

The Raiders fall to 14-14 overall with the loss, as they will look to turn things around in their regular season finale on the road against Todd County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Daviess County vs Grayson County

A strong second half defensively was the key to a Daviess County win on Tuesday, as they were able to force overtime a come away with a slim 48-47 win over Grayson County on the road.

Junior Gage Phelps got the Panthers going to start this one, grabbing six points to lead the way while they held the Cougars to single digits to take an 11-8 lead after the first quarter. However, Grayson County exploded for 20 points in the second quarter, getting 11 from River Blanton as they took a 28-24 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the locker room Daviess County was now on a mission defensively, holding the Cougars to single digits in both quarters while Phelps earned 10 of the Panthers 19 to force overtime tied at 43-43.  Blanton had all four of the Cougars points in overtime to try and bounce back for the win, but Daviess County was able to grab five points—getting a bucket from sophomore Aydan Ayer and a three from junior Houston Oberst—en route to the 48-47 win.
