Owensboro Community & Technical College is showcasing an exhibition titled Skylark at the Dayman Gallery. The exhibition, which runs through March 17, highlights the college’s literary and art magazine of the same name.
The annual Skylark magazine has been a platform for OCTC students, faculty, and staff to showcase their original poems, short stories, and visual art since 1987. The magazine aims to represent the best of the college’s creative community and is an open space for creative expression.
This year, the exhibition adds a physical aspect to the Skylark publication, showcasing both art and creative writing pieces by students.
The artwork features pieces by Anika Atherton, Julia Bowlds, Martha Bratcher, Taylor Bristow, Louie Fuchs, Drake Gunter, Cynthia Lenn, Heather Maas, Lillian Martin, Katie Pierce, Rose Richards, Chloe Richeson, Roxy Rickard, English Roberts, and Gabriel Schoonover.
Creative writing contributions come from Autumn Duckett, Tamara Harlan, Raylan Harmon, Angela Horton, and Phillip Langford.
The exhibition is co-organized by Professor of English Matt Branham along with Art Program Coordinator and Gallery Director David Wilson.
The exhibit is free and open to the public and is located on the upper level of the Learning Resource Center on OCTC’s main campus at 4800 New Hartford Road. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
