The Lady Panthers offense was clicking on all cylinders in a tough home win against Madisonville-North Hopkins on Tuesday, while Apollo fell just short in a road loss to Muhlenberg County.

Daviess County vs Madisonville-North Hopkins

The Lady Panthers offense was in sync on Tuesday, outscoring Madisonville-North Hopkins with sophomore Zoey Beehn and senior Adylan Ayer leading the way in a 55-47 home win.

Daviess County got off to a strong start, getting six points each from Beehn and Ayer while senior Madison Spurrier added five to take a 17-11 lead after the first quarter. Beehn added six more in the second, along with freshman Briley Henry’s five to keep them rolling into halftime with a 31-25 lead.

Beehn wasn’t slowing down coming out of the locker room either, tallying nine points in the quarter to help the Lady Panthers gain a double-digit lead at 46-35 heading into the fourth. Daviess County was limited to single digits in the fourth, but it was too little too late as they were able to hang on for the 55-47 win.

Beehn led all scorers with 23 points on the night, while Ayer added 16 and Henry and Spurrier finished with seven each. Daviess County improves to 12-14 overall with the win, now looking ahead to the regular season district finale on Friday when they host Apollo at 5:30 p.m.

Apollo vs Muhlenberg County

The E-gals struggled offensively in the fourth quarter, letting Muhlenberg County come away with a 54-46 home win.

Freshman Kennedy Lane (11) and junior Jennifer Lee (nine) had Apollo fighting for a lead in the first half, combining for 20 points as they went into halftime trailing 28-25. Lane came out of the locker room still on fire, grabbing 11 more while Lee added four.

However, they couldn’t slow junior Brooklyn Stewart in the third, grabbing nine of her team-leading 21 points to keep the Lady Mustangs out in front 41-40. The E-gals couldn’t turn things around in the fourth either, as they were held to single digits and ultimately fell 54-46.

Lane led all scorers with 26 points on the night, while Lee was the only other player in double figures with 11. Apollo falls to 7-18 overall with the loss, as they’ll now look to snap their three-game losing streak in the regular season district finale on the road at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
