Owensboro is now home to The Craft OBKY, a mobile bar specializing in craft cocktails, catering, and more for events. Whitney Cox paired her passion for bartending with her commitment to growing the community to create the venture.
“I want to help the community in any way I can,” Cox said. “The mobile bar is something I will have at events. I’m primarily working at The Party Space Place and Bayside (opening soon), and I am looking to expand to other venues as well.”
The concept is simple. Cox schedules an initial meeting with clients to identify their budget and customize a package specific to them. She then creates a custom menu chock-full of unique cocktails and other drinks.
Cox also provides a sleek mobile unit and bartending services, adjusting her staff size appropriately. She said her inspiration for going into business on her own was her son.
“I want my son to see that hard work pays off and to always follow your passions,” she said. “I was miserable sitting behind a desk, and I always felt the happiest when I was making drinks and sharing conversations with people.”
One of her greatest encouragers is Allyson Sanders, owner of The Party Space Place and co-owner of Something Borrowed.
“I’m inspired by her,” Cox said. “We worked an event, and she saw a light in me that I never saw in myself. She and my family have pushed me toward this business and have supported me every step of the way.”
Cox hopes to continue to grow the business and eventually expand the number of events she does annually. She’s also considering expanding her reach to other parts of the tri-state and providing her services at destination weddings.

“We aren’t just a mobile bar,” Cox said. “We are a catering service as well. We will have food at any of the events we are at, and these food options will soon be added to our website once we perfect the menu options.”
