Vandlyn Mae Lucas, age 76 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away January 12, 2023 at Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Breckinridge County on April 8, 1946, daughter of the late Owen and Evelyn Smothers Slaughter. Vandlyn was a retired clerk having worked at Houchens Market. She served delicious meals to many people over the years while waitressing at several restaurants including Kirv Inn, Laslie’s, Minnie’s, The Porch Swing and Gene’s. She enjoyed playing Bingo and working crossword and word search puzzles. Vandlyn loved her grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willis “Bo Bo” Lucas; siblings Gene Burden, Katherine Skaggs, Nancy Simmons, Christine Coomes and Thelma Whitworth.
Vandlyn is survived by 3 children: Steve Lucas of Colorado; Debbie Henning of Hardinsburg, KY and Sonya Collins of Brandenburg, KY
7 grandchildren: Bradley (Morgan) Henning, Aaron (Lesli) Henning, Nicholas (Katie) Henning, Blake (Haley) Thomas, Caliee Thomas, Devin and Tanner Fike
1 brother: Donnie Slaughter of Hardinsburg, KY
1 sister: Ann Blythe of Garfield, KY

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 11 AM with burial in the Ivy Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, 3:30 – 7 PM and Tuesday after 8 AM.
