LoVera Faye Preston was born June 15, 1931 and departed this life January 7, 2023, 91 years and still an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was born in Custer, KY, one of 10 children born to Rufus and Katie Lynch. LoVera retired from Breckinridge Memorial Hospital where she worked in patient care for 33 years and afterward volunteered for 15 years. As a young girl she played guitar, accordian and piano. Later in life she played the electric bass and the dulcimer. A devoted Christian, she attended Custer Church of God faithfully for 75 years. She was passionate about her music ministry and worked tirelessly spreading the gospel through The Preston Family Singers and was proud to share that journey with her daughters Audrey Basham, Penny Willis and grandson Neal Basham until they retired from singing in 2017.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Junior, her husband of 55 years. They were married September 13, 1947; her son-in-law, Michael Graham, Sr. and siblings Zelona, Evadean, Yvetta, Twyla, Lloyd, Floyd, Edward, Lillard and Dale.
She is survived by four daughters, Twylane Van Lahr (Charles) of Rineyville, KY; Kathy Graham of Irvington, KY; Audrey Basham (Monte) of Hudson, KY and Penny Willis (David) of Custer, KY. There are eight grandchildren: Melissa Reesor (Ron) of Irvington, KY; Michael Graham, Jr. (Shannon) of Brandenburg, KY; Jennifer Ferguson of Temple, TX; Allison Bolin-Talley (David) of Antioch, TN; Cort Basham (Laurie) of Bowling Green, KY; Neal Basham (Tara) of Hudson, KY; Steve Daugherty (Brittany) of Hardinsburg, KY; Jeffrey Daugherty (Jessica) of Buffalo, KY and step grandson, Jonathan Willis of Campbellsville, KY. Her family has been blessed with 21 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and 18 step great grandchildren. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed 20 plus years of traveling with her daughters on their “girl trips”.
Funeral services will be held at Custer Church of God on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 12 PM with burial in the Bennett Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, 4 – 7 PM and Friday, 8:30 – 11 AM. All times are central.
