Trail of Treats returns Thursday, some roads will be closed during event

The annual “Trail of Treats” returns to downtown Owensboro this Thursday, featuring several dozen booths, character meet-and-greets, and more for families to enjoy. Veterans Boulevard and West 2nd Street will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Trail of Treats beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The 70+ trick-or-treat booths will be spread throughout the streets, allowing families to partake in Halloween festivities. In addition to the booths, there will be have a DJ, photo opportunities, and character meet-and-greets.

Other portions of streets that will be closed include Daviess, Allen, St. Ann, and Frederica. The Daviess Street parking garage will remain open.

“We are looking forward to the return of the annual Trail of Treats event downtown,” said Tim Ross, Director of Public Events. “It was frustrating for us to have to cancel it the last couple of years during the pandemic, but we are looking forward to everyone coming together for a massive trick-or-treat event that the whole community can enjoy downtown to kick-off the Halloween weekend.”
