Alvin Andrew Mattingly

October 9, 1938 - July 30, 2022

Alvin Andrew Mattingly, age 83 of Harned, KY passed away July 30, 2022 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rhodelia, KY on October 9, 1938, son of the late William Alonzo and Eva Kathryn Noble Mattingly. He was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church, a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Sears as an electronic technician. Alvin enjoyed woodworking and sports, especially football and basketball. His home was not a house divided, he loved U of K and U of L the same. Above all, he was a devoted family man.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant sons Gary and Terry Mattingly, siblings Ella Katherine Limbrick, Viola Ruth Davis, Dennis Lamar Mattingly and Pamela Jean Hopewell.

He is survived by his wife Margie Mattingly of Harned, KY

3 children: Alvina Marie (Ray) Powers of Hardinsburg, KY; Melanie Lynn  (Bryan) Woosley of Leitchfield, KY and Brian (Kim) Mattingly of Falls of Rough, KY

8 grandchildren: Megan Rae Powers, Trey Powers, Mason (Rebecca) Powers, Katie Mattingly, Beth (Jason) Tatum, Kacey Miller, Blake Andrew Tivitt and Ryan Allen Kennedy

5 great grandchildren: Luna, Hayden, Charles, Noah and Jay

10 brothers and sisters: Morris Ray Mattingly of Jeffersonville, IN; Everett Louis Mattingly of Elizabethtown, KY; Linda Marie Monroe, JoAnn Sheehan, Diane Marie Erickson, Vicky Sue Raque, Sharon Katherine Parrish, Sandra Gail Bush and Mike Mattingly of Louisville, KY; Larry (Patty) Mattingly of Harned, KY

Funeral services will be held at St. Romuald Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Tuesday, 4-8 PM and Wednesday after 8:30 AM. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 7 PM. All times are central. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Crusade for Children.
