The businesses of Wesleyan Park Plaza will host a Summer Block Party on July 30, featuring music, food, and shopping. Participating shops and restaurants are providing special discounts and offering fun events.
Uncharted, a local band from Ohio County, is set to play from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the breezeway next to Lance & Co. Jewelers. The event organizer, Mandy Collins, said the inspiration for the event came from the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Shop Small Summer Edition.
“We thought it would be the perfect time to put together a summer block party for the plaza,” Collins said. “We wanted to invite our customers and all of Owensboro to have fun with a local band that plays while they eat, drink, and shop.
Participants to date include Lance & Co. Jewelers, Kid Stop, Pure Barre, Glass Factory, Bella Ragazza, Julep, Shoe Stop, Wheatgrass Juice Bar, and Niko’s Bakery. Collins said other businesses in the area might participate but haven’t responded yet.
Notable specials for the event include:
- Lance & Co Jewelers: Selection of items 50% off all day.
- Kid Stop: 50-75% off all spring and summer clothes and shoes, the “biggest sale of the season,” Bogg Bag give-away
- Pure Barre: 40% off select lululemon and beyond yoga and BOGO classes, refreshing “fun” beverages
- Nikos Bakery: 25% off coffee drinks for anyone with a receipt from other participating business
- Wheatgrass: 25% off food, drinks, and merchandise for anyone with a receipt from another participating business $1.99 Kids drinks all the time
- Glass Factory: 25% off all sofas, 15% off all accessories when showing a receipt from participating business
Partygoers that visit each participating shop that day can enter for an opportunity to win a gift basket valued at $500, with something special from each business.
