Flags ordered at half-staff

According to the City of Owensboro Mayor’s Office and Governor Matt Bevin, in accordance with the proclamation by President Donald Trump, and with solemn respect for those killed in the tragedy at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, both American and state flags at public office buildings shall be lowered to half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on Oct. 31, 2018, to honor the victims and their families. Saturday morning, 11 worshippers were killed by a single gunman inside of the Tree of Life Synagogue.

“Kentucky joins our nation in mourning those who were brutally slain this weekend while worshipping in Pittsburgh,” said Gov. Matt Bevin. “We earnestly pray for healing for the loved ones, fellow congregants and all community members impacted by this despicable act of evil.”

All individuals, businesses, organizations, and government agencies are encouraged to join in this tribute of lowering the flag to honor the victims and families of this tragedy.
