Yvetta Lynch Thorn Capps

January 23, 1929 - July 8, 2022

Yvetta Lynch Thorn Capps, age 93  passed away July 8, 2022 at her residence in Custer, KY. She was born in Custer on January 23, 1929, daughter of the late Rufus Thomas Lynch and Katie Mae Minter Lynch. She was preceded in death  by her first husband Charles Robert Thorn, her second husband Raymond Paul Capps, five brothers Lloyd, Floyd (Catherine), Dale (Etta Jean), Edward Lynch and Lillard Veo Lynch and three sisters Evadean Dennis, Lieta Lynch and Zelona (Bill) Parker and stepson Raymond Edwards Capps.

She was united in marriage to Charles Robert ‘Bob’ Thorn of February 3, 1949 in Jeffersonville, IN and they resided in Cannelton, IN where they reared their four children. Yvetta worked nineteen years at General Electric in Tell City, IN.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Paul Capps, an ordained minister, on January 1, 1977 at First Church of God in Custer, KY.

She is survived by one sister Lovera Faye Preston of Hudson, KY

Three sons David (Sandy) Thorn of Evansville, IN; Dennis (Suzie) Thorn of Cannelton, IN and Russell (Lisa) Thorn of Elizabethtown, KY

One daughter Roberta (Tom) Ress of Athens, AL

Two stepdaughters Linda (Philip) Thompson of Shepherdsville, KY and Ruby Mattingly of Ekron, KY

Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and eighteen great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Yvetta was a faithful follower of God, a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma and Mammaw. She was a housewife and enjoyed cooking. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loving family.

A service to celebrate Yvetta’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 11 AM at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, KY with Rev. Terry Ames and Rev. Mike Biggs presiding and the Preston Family Singers providing music. Interment will be in the New Cliff Cemetery in Cannelton, IN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 4 – 8 PM and Wednesday after 8:30 AM. All times are central.
