Update, 5:10 p.m. June 14 — The Daviess County Coroner’s office has identified the victim in this investigation as John T. Leak, Jr., of Owensboro. Detectives obtained surveillance video showing the suspects and the vehicle involved. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. The public is advised to not approach, and notify local law enforcement if they are seen.

Original story, 8:15 a.m. June 14 — The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a homicide after an adult male was reportedly shot then crashed his vehicle into a residence while attempting to drive away Monday night. The victim died from his injuries, according to OPD.
According to a release, OPD detectives believe the victim was shot in the 900 block of West 7th Street. They said after being shot, he attempted to drive away before striking a residence on the 1200 block of West 7th Street.
When OPD arrived at the scene of the crash at 11:08 p.m. a bystander was performing CPR, according to OPD. The officers then began assisting with medical care and discovered the single gunshot wound and transported the victim to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by ambulance.
The victim later died in OHRH due to his injuries, according to OPD. Anyone with additional information can call OPD at 270-687-8888, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484.
