Richard Ray King passed from this realm on Monday, April 11, 2022. He was well known to his many friends and family as Ricky, but he will mostly be missed by the ones who called him daddy, papaw or brother. He was preceded in death by his parents Millard and Norma Jean Severs King, his brother Millard Donald ‘Donnie’ King and sisters Sheila Rose King and Barbara Gail King Leathem who helped raise his final wild child Leah.
He is survived by 2 sisters: Linda Lou Brown and Carolyn Sue Brazelton
2 brothers: Kenneth Dale King (Jeannie) and Rodney Otis King.
10 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews
Ricky blessed this world with amazing and dynamic children: His firstborn Shannon Rae King, then came Samantha Rose Satterly (Shawn) and son Cody King . Following later was his final wild child Leah King. Ricky was blessed to live long enough to see his grandchildren: Daniel and Darcy Satterly, Kiera and Noah King.
Ricky has worked as a heavy equipment operator, as well as a mechanic. He enjoyed working with logging crews, road crews and mining crews. These past few years, he enjoyed operating a few smaller pieces for his own homestead in Buras, Kentucky.
For the past several years, he has operated on a much smaller scale, but as he has told us, a much more fulfilling time on our place here in Buras. His homestead was a place to play in the dirt, mow some grass, listen to the birds sing and the wildlife roam. This simple man could be found often around the place enjoying the company of many friends in the garage, sharing tomatoes from his garden, talking about the good Lord giving us what we need, even though it may not be what we want. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed until we meet again in heaven.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11 AM. Burial will be private. Visitation will begin at 9 AM on Saturday.
