There were just 5 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital as of Monday morning, marking the smallest number in months. Since the start of the pandemic, more than 1,400 patients have been admitted across all Owensboro Health hospitals with COVID-19.
COVID-19 hospitalizations at OHRH dipped below 20 on Feb. 24, the first time they had been that low since mid-November. After a slight increase to begin March, hospitalizations have steadily declined over the last two weeks.
The infographic below illustrates the number of COVID-19-positive patients in OH hospitals as of 8 a.m. Monday. The report shows 5 cases at OHRH. The report also shows 1 case at Twin Lakes Medical Center and 0 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

Officials are continuing to encourage the community to not only get vaccinated but stay up to date on boosters. In multiple updates from OH, the following message has been shared:
If it’s been five months since your last Pfizer or Moderna vaccine dose, or two months since your J&J vaccine, a booster shot is recommended to elevate your body’s immune response against COVID-19 to the optimal level once again. At Owensboro Health, nearly all vaccinated patients who have been hospitalized for COVID-19 in recent months were overdue for a booster. Boosters are available for ages 12 and over. You do not need an appointment to get a booster at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital’s vaccine clinic, open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.
On March 5, OH officials announced in a Facebook post:
As the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations declines, things around Owensboro Health Regional Hospital are starting to feel a little more “normal.” On Friday, the Rehabilitation Unit at OHRH returned to its home space on the fourth floor of the hospital, which had been turned into a COVID-19 unit overflow area. During the past two years of the pandemic, the rehab team relocated six times, staying adaptable to provide the best patient care possible. We thank them for their flexibility and hard work!
Then on March 7, they announced visitor guidelines were finally loosening:
Owensboro Health has updated its visitor policy as COVID-19 cases continue to trend downward. Since August 2021, only one visitor has been allowed for hospital patients. Now, two designated visitors may visit non-COVID-19 patients. Additionally, Outpatient Therapies and Owensboro Health Medical Group Clinics now allow two designated visitors. Visitor restrictions are in place to protect the patients, providers and staff of Owensboro Health during the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions help limit exposure inside the facility and allow for a safer environment for everyone. See the entire visitor policy and stay up-to-date with current guidelines at OwensboroHealth.org/Visit.
