The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team dropped a pair of games to Saint Leo University on Wednesday night. The Panthers dropped the opener 9-1 before taking an 11-0 loss in the finale. Like Nova Southeastern on Tuesday, the Lions utilized their speed and aggressive base-running to gain an early edge.
The Panthers took a break form the Spring Games to play the Lions (16-2) on Wednesday. Cameron Hamilton gave up two big swings in the opener and the Lions used a two-run and three-run homerun to help build a 9-0 lead. Calysta Crum hit a rocket over the centerfield fence in the fourth, but the Panthers could not prolong the inning.
The Lions used an eight run second inning to dispatch the Panthers in second game. Wesleyan left five runners on base in the contest as Mary Morgan, Lacie Mills, and Hamilton each recorded a hit in the contest.
The Panthers will have an off day on Thursday before returning to the Spring Games to face Gannon and Sioux Falls on Friday. The first contest will begin on Friday at 11:15 a.m. in Auburndale.
