Lorena M. ‘Sammye’ Powers, age 85 of Prospect, KY passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022. She was born on May 15, 1936 in Columbia, KY to the late David C. and Frances H. Moore. She attended Adair County High School. A long-time resident of Breckinridge County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Garfield Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Powers; her sister Joan Williams; her brother Tom Moore and her daughter-in-law Lisa Powers.
Mrs. Powers is survived by two sons: Mike Powers and his wife Lori of Garfield, KY and Mitch Powers of Prospect, KY.
One sister: E. Margaret Austin of Louisville, KY
Two granddaughters: Ashley Powers of Garfield, KY and Shelby Murphy of Hardinsburg, KY
Two great grandchildren: Trey Powers and Emma Murphy as well as six nieces.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 11 AM with burial in the Garfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 3:30 – 7 PM and Thursday after 8:30 AM.
