Friends of Sinners has reached more than 70 donors of their Gideon’s 300 campaign that will help future growth of the organization.
Executive Director Joe Welsh said that the campaign originally came about a few years ago when he was trying to think of a large fundraiser. He said he lost focus of the cause itself and instead was reminded of the story of Gideon in the Bible.
“God decreased Gideon’s army from 32,000 to 10,000 and then from 10,000 to 300. God’s word in Judges 7 revealed to me where I had been going astray,” Welsh said. “I was focused on the 10,000 and not the 300 that God has chosen for the Friends of Sinners ministry.”
So with the prospective change, he said that he was able to focus more on the people that are able to give rather than the amount they can give.
So, they ask that anyone interested in donating give the amount they are available rather than asking for a certain amount, with a goal of finding a community of 300 supporters.
Checks can be mailed to their location at 320 Clay Street, or donated online here.
