The Lady Aces and Lady Raiders finished the regular season strong, grabbing wins over Breckinridge County and Russellville.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Breckinridge County

Getting double figures from freshman Karmin Riley, sophomore Hailee Johnson and senior Camille Conkright, the Lady Aces consistent offense led them to a 57-45 win over Breckinridge County in their regular season finale.

Riley gave Owensboro Catholic a lift right away in the first, knocking down a pair of threes for six of the team’s 10 points. On the defensive end they were able to limit the Lady Tigers to one basket in the quarter, taking a 10-3 lead into the second.

In the second quarter it was Johnson (five) and Conkright leading the charge (four), combining for nine of the Lady Aces’ points. Thanks to a couple of threes in the quarter Breckinridge County was able to stay within single digits, heading into halftime trailing 24-16.

Skylar Tucker went off for the Lady Tigers coming out of the locker room, nailing three from deep and scoring 11 of the team’s 14 in the third. But Owensboro Catholic didn’t slow down offensively, getting six points each from Johnson and Conkright en route to a 39-30 lead going into the fourth.

It was Riley who led the way for the Lady Aces in the final quarter, rattling off 10 points with two more threes to help Owensboro Catholic seal the deal on a 57-45 win.

Riley led all scorers with 19 points on the night, while Johnson followed right behind with 18 and Conkright also tallied 13 points on the evening, as the trio combined for 50 points.

The win snaps a two-game losing streak, as the Lady Aces close out the regular season sitting at 23-9 overall. They have a few days to prepare for the first round of the 9th District Tournament, as Owensboro Catholic will go to battle with Owensboro at 6 p.m. on Monday.

Trinity vs. Russellville

The Lady Raiders avenged their December loss to Russellville on Friday, grabbing a 50-39 win on the road to wrap up the regular season.

Trinity (Whitesville) got off to a strong start with five different players scoring, including a pair of threes from Josie Aull en route to a 17-15 lead after the first quarter.

The Lady Raiders offense slowed a little in the second, just barely cracking double figures. However, they were able to hold the Lady Panthers to six points and went into halftime owning a 27-21 lead.

Russellville’s luck didn’t change in the third, as they were held to single digits once again coming out of the locker room. Meanwhile, senior Cassidy Morris was able to grab eight of Trinity’s 12 points, expanding its lead to 39-29 going into the fourth.

Brinley Mason tried to give the Lady Panthers a spark with a pair of threes in the fourth, but it was too little too late as Trinity narrowly outscored them once again to shut the door on a 50-39 win.

Morris led all scorers with 22 points on the night, while Aull followed with 14 and senior Kat Hibbitt nearly finished in double figures with nine points.

The Lady Raiders caught fire to finish out the regular season, winning five of their last six games. Now sitting at 13-11, Trinity will take on Edmonson County at 6 p.m. on Monday in the first round of the 12th District Tournament.
