A strong second and fourth quarter for the Lady Panthers were crucial factors in a narrow 58-50 comeback win over Trinity (Whitesville).
Freshman Lily Hoagland tried to help Daviess County to an early lead with a pair of threes, but a seven-point first quarter for senior Cassidy Morris had Trinity out in front 16-12.
Junior Adylan Ayer helped spark the Lady Panthers offense in the second, rattling of seven points of her own.
Nearly outscoring the Lady Raiders herself, Ayer and Daviess County took control of the game at 29-24 going into halftime.
Coming out of the locker the Lady Panthers lost its momentum, as they were limited to nine points. Meanwhile, junior Josie Aull (seven) and Morris’ 13 combined points helped light a fire under Trinity to go up 40-38.
Despite trailing once again, Daviess County had one more response in them. Ayer went off for 12 points in the fourth, as the offense tallied 20 points.
Meanwhile, Morris would try to keep the Lady Raiders alive with nine points in the fourth, but only one other point was scored as the Lady Panthers claimed a 58-50 win.
Morris led all scorers on the night with 27 points, while Aull followed as the only other player in double figures for Trinity with 14.
Ayer closed out the night with 23 points to lead Daviess County, while Hoagland finished right behind with 17 points.
The win moves the Lady Panthers to 17-11 overall, as they will close out the regular season against Edmonson County at 7:30 p.m.
