The Lady Panthers and the Lady Raiders—accompanied by a career milestone for Trinity’s Cassidy Morris—were able to grab wins to close out the week, while the Lady Aces struggled to score late and fell to Bardstown.

Led by junior Adylan Ayer offensively, the Lady Panthers defense stepped up and held Lyon County to single digits in both quarters of the second half en route to a 65-38 road win.

Ayer continued to lead the Lady Panthers offensively with six points, while the team as a whole finished with nine for the third. However, they were able to limit the Lady Lyons to single digits as well and went into the third down 49-30.
Daviess County’s offense picked back up in the fourth, cracking double digits once again while holding Lyon County to eight points. Thus, the Lady Panthers winning streak was extended to three games thanks to a 65-38 final score.
Ayer led all scorers with 21 points on the day, while freshmen Lily Hoagland and Zoey Beehn finished with nine and eight points each.
The win advances Daviess County to 16-10 overall, as they have a few days off before they open up the final week of the season on Tuesday against Madisonville-North Hopkins at 7:30 p.m.
Owensboro Catholic vs. Bardstown
A strong second half performance from Bardstown offensively was the deciding factor in a 55-44 road loss for the Lady Aces on Saturday.
Owensboro Catholic got out to an early 14-5 lead following the first quarter thanks to a trio of threes from freshman Karmin Riley.
While the Lady Aces were able to maintain their lead going into halftime, the Lady Tigers made up significant ground thanks to eighth grader Miyah Courtney. She tallied nine points from beyond the arc in the second, cutting Bardstown’s deficit to 23-20 at halftime.
Courtney (one three) and senior Kadence Walls (two threes) helped the Lady Tigers pick up right where they left off in the third, combining for nine of the team’s 15 points from deep. Meanwhile, Riley accounted for eight of the team’s 11 points to keep the Lady Aces trailing by a score of just 35-34.
Sophomore Hailee Johnson tried to give Owensboro Catholic a spark offensively in the fourth with seven points, but senior Jaileyah Cotton was determined to lead Bardstown to victory.
She caught fire for 10 of her 13 points in the fourth, accounting for half of the Lady Tigers’ points and matching the Lady Aces output en route to a 55-44 win.
Courtney led Bardstown with 16 points, while Walls finished with 15 points and Cotton finished with 13 points as the trio combined for 34 of the team’s 55 points on the day.
Riley led all scorers with 19 points on the day, while Johnson was the only other player for Owensboro Catholic in double figures with 14 points.
The Lady Aces fall to 22-8 overall with the loss, as they will take a few days to refocus before another road battle with Henderson County at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Trinity (Whitesville) vs. McLean County
Senior Cassidy Morris cemented her name in the record books on Saturday, becoming the Lady Raiders all-time leading scorer as they battled their way to a 43-35 comeback win over McLean County.
It was Morris who got things started for Trinity early, scoring six points in the first. However, her points were all the Lady Raiders could account for and went into the second trailing 11-6.
Trinity was able to flip the script in the second quarter, using a balanced offensive attack to surpass double digits. Holding the Lady Cougars to seven points, the Lady Raiders went into halftime trailing 18-17.
Trinity picked up where it left off coming out of the locker room, as Morris (six) and junior Josie Aull (four) combined for all 10 of the team’s points. McLean County was held to single digits for the second straight quarter, as the Lady Raiders had claimed the lead at 27-26.
It was all hands on deck in the fourth quarter, as four different players scored for Trinity for its strong offensive quarter on the night. Meanwhile, the Lady Cougars were limited to nine points, thus giving the Lady Raiders a 43-35 win.
Morris eclipsed the 2,500-point mark of her career on Saturday, leading the way with 15 points. Aull followed closely behind as the only other player in double figures with 12 points.
Trinity now sits at 10-10 overall on the season, as they have back-to-back home games coming up. The first will be against Edmonson County at 6 p.m. on Monday.
