Keeping Grayson County below double-digits in each quarter, the Lady Raiders defended their way to their second win over the Lady Cougars by a score of 39-29 on Friday.
Senior Cassidy Morris kickstarted Trinity’s (Whitesville) offense in the first, scoring seven of their 11 points. Holding Grayson County to two baskets in the quarter, the Lady Raiders went into the second up 11-7.
The Lady Cougars didn’t have much more success in the second quarter, as they were held to seven points once again. With Trinity not faltering offensively, it went into halftime owning a 21-14 lead.
Grayson County aimed to make up some ground coming out of the locker room, limiting the Lady Raiders to four points. However, the Lady Cougars offensive struggles continued, as they exited the third still trailing 25-21.
In the fourth quarter junior Josie Aull made sure to help Trinity close the door, scoring eight of her nine points. Matching Grayson County’s fourth quarter production herself, Aull and the Lady Raiders put a bow on a 39-29 win to snap their three-game losing streak.
Morris led all scorers with 15 points and 10 rebounds on the night, while Aull chipped in nine points and freshman Kenzie McDowell tallied eight points off the bench.
Trinity now sits at 9-10 overall, as they quickly return to the hardwood with an afternoon matchup against McLean County at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
