6 new cases of COVID-19 in area; 33 now recovered

Five new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Daviess County on Tuesday, and one additional case was announced in Henderson County. Of the 101 total cases now announced in the Green River District, 33 total patients have recovered.

Two teenagers are among the new cases, marking the first patients under 20 years old that are confirmed to have COVID-19 in the area.

The recovered patients in the district are in Daviess County (26), Henderson County (5), Hancock County (1) and Union County (1). 

There are 12 people in the seven-county district currently hospitalized. There have also been two coronavirus-related deaths.

Patients range in age from 18-85, with an average age of 51. To date, 55% of patients have been female and 45% have been male. Cases by age range are:

  • 1-19 — 2 cases
  • 20-29 — 11 cases
  • 30-39 — 12 cases
  • 40-49 — 19 cases
  • 50-59 — 20 cases
  • 60-69 — 24 cases
  • 70-79 — 9 cases
  • 80+ — 4 cases

Accordingly, the county totals are:

  • Daviess County – 63 cases, 26 recovered, 1 death
  • Henderson County – 20 cases, 5 recovered
  • Ohio County – 6 cases
  • McLean County -4 cases, 1 death
  • Union County – 3 cases, 1 recovered
  • Webster County – 3 cases 
  • Hancock County – 2 cases, 1 recovered

Cases are expected to continue to rise as testing capacity increases in the area and across the state.

“In the days and weeks ahead we expect to see more new cases and an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations.” said Clay Horton, Green River District Health Department public health director. “We all play a part in this effort and it is crucial we do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19. Stay home, avoid crowds, wash your hands, and practice physical social distancing – staying at least 6 feet away from others.”
